Neighborhood Schools Program

The Neighborhood Schools Program is a campus-run support network for public neighborhood schools. The program provides University students with hands-on experience while serving their community.

An outreach project of the University’s Office of Civic Engagement, the NSP employs University undergraduate and graduate students to work in the classrooms of elementary and high schools in communities near the University of Chicago, as well as a few non-school sites including local government offices, after-school centers, and a women's shelter. A small corps of NSP participants work as technology support staff in local schools.

The program offers schools:

  • Tutoring
  • Pre-school assistance
  • Support for GED students
  • Technology support
  • Policy support
  • and more!
