Security Alert: January 5, 2012
At approximately 4:35 a.m., Thursday, January 5—two University students walking north on the west sidewalk of Ellis Avenue at 57th Street were approached by two males, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The suspects took wallets, book bags, a computer, and cell phone from the victims before entering a silver 4-door vehicle, possibly an Oldsmobile, and fled east on 57th Street. Neither victim was injured.
Investigators will review video footage for potential evidence.
Be alert and aware of your surroundings at all times. Familiarize yourself with the location of University emergency phones. If you see suspicious activity, please report it immediately to the police by activating an emergency phone or by calling UCPD when you get to a safe location.
