The College
- The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program
- The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) Program is the centerpiece of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation’s initiatives to increase diversity in the faculty ranks of colleges and universities. Two principal goals guide MMUF: to identify, support and mentor highly qualified undergraduates and to encourage these students to pursue a Ph.D. in fields where diversity has not been historically present; and to increase the number of faculty from underrepresented groups at colleges and universities throughout the country and abroad to bring a wider range of experiences and perspectives to teaching and scholarship.

- The University of Chicago's two Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Programs offer undergraduates the opportunity to gain research experience working in laboratories or research groups. The programs encourage participation by members of underrepresented minority groups (African-Americans, Hispanics, and Native Americans) and women, and are supported by the National Science Foundation.
- The Physics REU Program is for students studying all areas of physics, including high energy physics, biophysics, astrophysics, cosmology, mathematical physics, etc.
- The Materials Research Science and Engineering Center REU Program is for students studying materials science, materials and condensed matter physics, materials chemistry, and biomaterials.
- Vertical Integration of Educatation and Research for Undergraduates of the Department of Mathematics
- The summer Vertical Ingegration of Education and Research (VIGRE) program provides an opportunity for students to be involved in a deeper experience in mathematics than is usually available during the academic quarters and to allow them to be effective partners in the educational outreach programs of the Mathematics Department. This program is especially beneficial for undergraduates who are considering graduate study and research in mathematics and for those who are interested in teaching mathematics at any level.
