The role of higher education in improving urban schools

Chicago alumnus Ray Suarez moderated “The Role of Higher Education in Improving Urban Schools” panel, which was part of “Chicago Contributes” event Thursday, Sept. 10 at Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC.

Members of the panel discussed ideas for improving access pre-K-12 education, especially in underserved urban settings. They included Timothy Knowles, the Lewis-Sebring Director of the Urban Education Institute at the University; Charles Payne, the Frank P. Hixon Professor in the School of Social Service Administration; and Linda Darling-Hammond, the Charles Ducommun Professor of Education and co-director of School Redesign Network at Stanford University.
