Submit a Feature Idea
One of the best ways to share the depth and breadth of intellectual inquiry taking place at the University is through compelling stories about our students, staff, faculty and alumni.
We invite anyone in the University community to submit ideas or content for stories to be featured on the main website.
Stories may be adapted from existing materials, or may be original content. Our content coordinator will review feature ideas and select stories for production and publication.
Selections will be based on strength of idea, appeal to our primary audiences, balance with other features and timeliness. Stories that convey messages about the University’s distinctive and powerful intellectual environment, agenda-setting scholarship, the impact of that scholarship in addressing society’s most vexing problems, and the University’s significant academic priorities and new initiatives will receive preference.
To submit a story idea, please fill out the form below. Required fields are marked with an asterisk.
Story Requirements
Materials for stories need not be assembled prior to filling out the form.
Upon accepting an idea, we will share release forms and more detailed guidelines about the requirements, as well as working out deadlines for materials. We require permission from the creators and subjects of all content to use their materials, likenesses, etc. on the website. We reserve the right to edit submitted materials.
Stories for use in the main feature area of the homepage, on the Students page, and on the Campus & Community page must include:
- A 400-600 word article or excerpt, written or adapted to follow our tone and message guidelines
- Stunning photography, preferably featuring people, campus, and/or visually compelling technical illustrations
- A headline, teaser text, subhead, and byline formatted according to our standards
The following supplemental materials are not required, but are highly encouraged:
- Additional photographs
- Additional graphics, charts, and illustrations
- Audio that conforms to our technical requirements
- Video that conforms to our technical requirements
- Links to related content (PDFs, original articles, related research, websites, etc.)
We will also accept ideas for stories for the Alumni & Friends page. On that page, we generally link directly to existing materials. Suggestions for such materials or original submissions are welcome.
