Construction activity began this week at 1307 East 60th St.
A boom-lift will be on the main quad the week of March 20 to allow crews to inspect and photograph building elevations at Cobb, Rosenwald and Stuart halls, as well as the Bookstore and Oriental Institute.
Facilities Services crews have completed repairs of sections of the pervious concrete walkway south of Cobb Gate and west of Botany Pond.
A project to install energy efficient LED lighting to the Ellis/Campus North parking structure will begin Friday, March 3 and is expected to be complete in early April. Work will start at the lower level of the garage and complete at the upper level.
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has selected the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts to receive the 2017 Institute Honor Award, the profession's highest recognition of work that exemplify excellence in architecture, interior architecture and urban design. The Logan Center was one of 11 facilities selected from roughly 700 submissions from around the globe at the 2017 ceremony.
The North Sciences Quad earned the 2016 Illinois Landscape Contractors Association Gold Award for Commercial Landscape Construction. The North Sciences Quad has a self-sustaining water retention system, which holds 150,000 gallons of water that is reused for the sites' irrigation. The North Sciences Quad sits on 1.3 acres of land, about two-thirds of which are landscaped with 150 trees, 30,000 perennials, ground cover, ornamental grasses, 250 shrubs and 150 vines. It also includes space for 200 bike racks.
The University will welcome Lakeshore Recycling Systems, a new refuse and recycle vendor, onto campus this month. Campus community members may seen new blue refuse containers installed on campus this month, however, there should be no impacts to the campus community.
