Board Relations Strategist
As the Board Relations Strategist within the Office of the Vice President for Research and for National Laboratories at Argonne National Laboratory, Melissa Ormond is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of all board meetings, Laboratory Programmatic Reviews, and overall activities related to the Argonne National Laboratory Board of Governors and the Fermi National Laboratory Board of Directors. In this role, she works with the Director of Board Relations and the Assistant Vice President for National Laboratories to develop the strategy for the respective boards and support the development of the broader organizational National Laboratory strategic planning process.
Prior to joining the University of Chicago in April 2009, Melissa worked for eight years at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois as an Access Control Assistant Coordinator. In that capacity she was responsible for managing the maintenance and operation of the enterprise wide access control system. Melissa also developed and implemented the Security Incident Tracker database, assisted in Emergency Response Training, and developed and implemented a Work Place Violence Training seminar.
Melissa has a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a M.A. in Liberal Studies from DePaul University. Currently, she is a full-time student at Drexel University pursuing a master’s degree in Library and Information Science with a focus on digital library technology and information representation.
