Carol Zuiches, Associate Vice President for Research, and Director, University Research Administration

Carol Zuiches is the Associate Vice President for Research Administration and Director of University Research Administration at The University of Chicago. Her principal responsibilities at the University of Chicago include administration of all government and other sponsored research; overseeing the University’s compliance with Federal regulatory research requirements including conflict of interest, human subjects and scientific integrity. She works with other senior University administrators involved with Federal and state relations to develop and represent the University’s concerns and positions in areas of research policy and funding.

Zuiches is the institutional official for the University’s Federal-wide Assurance, manages the individual conflict of interest disclosure process for the University, and works closely with other senior university officials to assure that the University meets all expectations for compliance in areas related to its research mission.

Zuiches’ professional activities include membership in National Council of Research Administrators, Society of Research Administrators and Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research, and the Association of University of Technology Managers and co-chair of FDP federal contracts task force.

Previously, Zuiches was Assistant Vice Provost for Research and executive director of the University of Washington’s preaward sponsored programs office (OSP). Prior to her position with University of Washington, Zuiches held positions of increasing responsibility at Washington State University. Zuiches earned her B.S. in General Science from the University of Portland and her Master’s in Education in Educational Leadership (Higher Education Administration) from Washington State University.
