CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago volleyball team dropped a 25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 18-25, 15-11 decision Wednesday night at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Senior middle blocker Katie Volzer (North Canton, Ohio/ Lake) reached a career milestone with her 750th kill.

CHICAGO -- Senior midfielder Siggy Nachtergaele (Davis, Calif./ Davis) scored the winning goal late in the second overtime period to lift the University of Chicago women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Lake Forest College Wednesday at Stagg Field.

Homecoming Set for This Saturday
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago will celebrate Homecoming 2008 on Saturday, Oct. 11 as the football and men's and women's soccer teams will all be in action. Activities include a picnic lunch for all students, face painting, t-shirt and other giveaways, and a tug-o-war. In addition, the newest members of the Athletics Hall of Fame will be introduced at halftime of the football game. |

Jennifer Kung Wins ITA Regional
CHICAGO -- University of Chicago freshman women's tennis player Jennifer Kung (Sunnyvale, Calif./ Homestead) (pictured with Head Coach Marty Perry) won the singles competition at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional. Kung won six matches, five of them in straight sets, in the 64-player draw. She posted a 6-0, 6-2 decision in the title match.
