Homecoming Set for This Saturday
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago will celebrate Homecoming 2008 on Saturday, Oct. 11 as the football and men's and women's soccer teams will all be in action. Activities include a picnic lunch for all students, face painting, t-shirt and other giveaways, and a tug-o-war. In addition, the newest members of the Athletics Hall of Fame will be introduced at halftime of the football game.

Maroons Split Two at UAA Round Robin
PITTSBURGH -- The University of Chicago volleyball team split a pair of matches Sunday at the University Athletic Association Round Robin, falling to second-ranked Emory University 25-14, 25-20, 25-20 before defeating Brandeis University 25-23, 25-22, 25-20. Freshman outside hitter Isis Smalls (Humble, Texas/ Atascocita) had 11 kills and 17 digs in the win over Brandeis.

Oct. 4, 2008 - Men's Soccer
Maroons Fall in UAA Debut
ATLANTA -- Marc Del Marmol collected two goals and an assist as ninth-ranked Emory University defeated the University of Chicago 5-1 in University Athletic Association men's soccer action Saturday afternoon. Chicago scored 1:06 into the contest when sophomore forward Alex Clifford (Houston, Texas/ Phillips Academy Andover) tallied his second goal of the year.

Chicago Drops UAA Opener
ATLANTA -- Whitney Briggs's goal early in the second half proved to be decisive as 12th-ranked Emory University defeated the University of Chicago women's soccer team 2-1 in the University Athletic Association debut for both teams Saturday afternoon. Junior midfielder Claire Gill (Los Altos Hills, Calif./ King's Academy) scored her third goal of the year for the Maroons.

Nate Hainje to Play in English Pro League
CHICAGO -- Former University of Chicago men's basketball player Nate Hainje has signed with the Manchester Magic of the English Basketball League, the EBL franchise announced today. A First Team All-American and University Athletic Association Player of the Year in 2008, Hainje becomes the second Chicago player in recent years to play professionally overseas. |
