105th Spring Dinner

CHICAGO -- The Undergraduate Order of the "C" at the University of Chicago held its 105th annual awards banquet last night at the International House. Thirteen student-athletes received individual sport and department-wide awards.

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior Zach Rodgers (Nashville, Tenn./ University School) and sophomore Claire Ray (Park Ridge, Ill./ St. Ignatius) have been named the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for men's and women's outdoor track & field, the conference announced today.

CHICAGO -- Seven members of the University of Chicago women's outdoor track & field team have qualified to participate in the 2008 NCAA Division III Championships to be held Thursday through Saturday, May 22-24 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

CHICAGO -- The Women's Athletic Association at the University of Chicago held its 104th annual awards banquet last night at the International House. Sixteen student-athletes received individual-sport and department-wide awards.

TOKYO, Japan -- Renewing a tradition that dates back to 1910, the University of Chicago baseball team spent five days in Japan as the guest of Waseda University.

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior men's basketball player Nate Hainje (Brownsburg, Ind./ Brownsburg) has been named to the 2008 State Farm NCAA Division III All-America Second Team. Averaging 16.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, Hainje led Chicago to the UAA championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.

ADA, Ohio -- University of Chicago senior Appie Hirve (Burke, Va./ Jefferson) earned All-America honors in the triple jump at the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship.

OXFORD, Ohio -- University of Chicago freshman Ellie Elgamal (San Diego, Calif./ Bishop's School) earned All-America accolades in one event and competed in two others at the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.

Maroons Advance to NCAA Round of 16

STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- Senior guard Nofi Mojidi (Silver Spring, Md./ Bullis School) and sophomore forward Molly Hackney (East Lansing, Mich./ Lansing Catholic) combined for 31 of the Maroons' 65 points as the University of Chicago defeated St. Norbert College 65-52 in the second round of the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.

CLEVELAND -- Four Maroons won conference titles as the University of Chicago women's indoor track & field team won the 2008 University Athletic Association Championship.

CLEVELAND -- Featuring two conference champions and 13 all-conferfence performances, the University of Chicago men's indoor track & field team won the 2008 University Athletic Association Championship at Case Western Reserve University.

Chicago Wins UAA Championship

CHICAGO -- Senior forward Nate Hainje (Brownsburg, Ind./ Brownsburg) scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the 25th-ranked University of Chicago men's basketball team defeated #7 Washington (Mo.) University 74-66 to win the University Athletic Association championship and earn an automatic berth to the 2008 NCAA Division III tournament.

CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago women's soccer team has received a bid to participate in the 2007 NCAA Division III Championship tournament and has been designated to host first- and second-round matches at Stagg Field. Chicago makes its ninth postseason appearance in the past 12 years.

MOBILE, Ala. -- University of Chicago sophomore Marissa Lin (Irvine, Calif./ Tustin) (pictured) placed third in singles and teamed with junior Vindya Dayananda (Kathmandu, Nepal/ Lincoln School) to take fourth in doubles at the 2007 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Small College Tennis Championships Thursday through Saturday.

CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago volleyball team spent 10 days in China prior to the start of its 2007 campaign. During the trip, the Maroons toured the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace, the Great Wall of China, and the Temple of Heaven.
