Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality

Since its founding in 1996, the Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality (CSGS) at the University of Chicago has become a major center for research and graduate training in gender and sexuality studies.

CSGS has been committed to teaching, research, and active engagement at the University, while also reaching out to public areas where gender and sexuality come together with other political, artistic, and intellectual concerns. The CSGS engages students, faculty, alumni, and the community through our major and minor degrees in Gender and Sexuality Studies, fellowships to graduate students working on their dissertations, lectures, conferences, speaker and film series, and a host of other arts programming. Areas of faculty interest include gender and sexuality studies in the fields of literature and language, history, political science, sociology, anthropology, cinema and media studies, human development, law, and medicine to name, well more than a few.
