In honor of the Chicago Fire and Police departments’ service to the University of Chicago community and the city, the University offers full-tuition scholarships to select children, who are admitted to the University of Chicago, of active Chicago firefighters and police officers.

Nine students were honored with scholarships Feb. 21 at the Police and Fire Scholarship dinner reception held at the Smart Museum. John Boyer, Dean of the College and James Nondorf, Vice President for Enrollment & Dean of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid were on hand to congratulate the awardees and offered words of encouragement. Chicago Police Assistant Superintendent Beatrice Cuello, 1st Deputy Fire Commissioner Charles Stewart, and University Associate Vice President for Safety and Security Marlon Lynch also acknowledged scholarship winners and their parents.
