Explore iconic landmarks

Architectural gems

The University’s field-defining scholarship and world-changing ideas are reflected in the innovative architecture of the Hyde Park campus. Conceived by forward-thinking designers including Frank Lloyd Wright, Henry Ives Cobb, the Olmsted Brothers, Ricardo Legorreta, and others, the campus showcases a breadth of architectural styles from original Gothic building to modernist, brutalist, and contemporary additions.

Campus oasis

UChicago is one of only a few universities where the campus itself has been designated as a botanic garden. From Botany Pond to the Main Quadrangles, various gardens have been introduced through the years throughout the 217-acre Hyde Park campus, where nature complements stunning architecture.

If you walk onto the historic quads, you feel a seriousness of purpose about the place that comes from the architecture and the landscape.
